Christmas 2009! This year we reached our target by raising £3,137 with Santas Sleigh!

Despite the snowy weather we completed all of our trips around Dronfield with the exception of Gainsbrough Road. Conditions deteriorated badly on Wednesday evening causing much of the traffic in Dronfield to come to a halt. We did not feel it was safe to continue. We apologies to those people who were disappointed, but we will be back next year.

Last year the sleigh raised nearly £3,000. This year we are hoping to increase that figure. The people of Dronfield are always generous and we are always amazed the way the towns residents support us with their donations to the sleigh. It is all in a good cause. The donations collected by the sleigh help to support a wide range of community projects in Dronfield, and international projects world wide.

Dronfield Rotary Club is greatful for the help given by a small group of community-minded people who provide support, to keep the Sleigh successful. Help is always required so, if you (and/or family members aged 18 or over) can give assistance in 2009 you would be very welcome. If you would like to be involved, please contact us. rotary.info@dronfieldrotary.org.uk.

Come rain, hail, sleet, and snow, Santa and his team of dedicated volunteers are out on the streets bringing a barrel full of festive cheer to the community.
Rotarian Andy Ledbetter said: It is something that the children look forward to. It is a magical event. Children run to their front doors and windows, mesmerised by the music and waiting to catch their first glimpse of the sleigh. Seeing the delight and wonder on the faces people is a delight for all the volunteers who help to run the sleigh.
